Feb 17th 1999 London, England
Preparations for the new millenium are starting to gather pace. There is a jubilant mood sweeping across the world. Humanity has survived another thousand years! Those of us alive to see such a transition are among the lucky few. Fifty generations will pass before this planet sees the turn of another. This will be a party to be remembered for centuries.
Closer inspection might lead the cynical to believe that the frenetic pace of these celebratory preparations belies a race whose subconscious is insisting that time is limited. The primal panic of doomsday race memories fester unacknowledged in the populace at large and a communal unease simmers.
Now is the time prophesied as the end of the world. Wild-eyed preachers urge people to repent for the end is nigh. Gang activity and murders are at an all time high. Mental illness is on the rise. Horror stories of people losing all reason and attacking co-workers, friends and family have been reported. The media portrays these incidents as “mass hysteria triggered by anxieties in impressionable minds, probably related to the Y2K bug and related millenium predictions”.
Today the city was stunned as explosions tore the south face off of Big Ben, killing 7 and injuring a further 5 people. Resulting riots escalated when police shot into a crowd and killed 30 civilians. All twelve officers were beaten to death by the crowd.
This is the story of what happens to ordinary people in the most extraordinary circumstances.
This is not fantasy.
This is not fiction.
This is your story!
There is no guarantee of a happy ending…
“The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror.
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck."
